  • Quiz Bowl...

    Wells Elementary School had two Quiz Bowl teams that competed against the other elementary schools in the Jones County.

    The WES Warriors team was undefeated in the competition and won 1st place for Jones County. Congratulations to Rylie Faulk, Savannah Brock, AJ Mathis, James Davis, Jonathan Van Patton, Tristan Tarleton, and Autumn Coleman.

  • DPA Winner...

    Congratulations to Savannah Brock for placing at 4-H District Project Achievement.  Savannah is a fifth grader and  presented in the category of Geology.  She placed first in her category for her presentation on canyons.

  • DPA Winner...

    Congratulations to Pressley Vinson for placing at 4-H District Project Achievement.  Pressley is a fifth grader and competed in the category of Marine and Costal Ecology.  Pressley won first place in her category.  Her presentation was on three species of dolphins.  Congratulations Pressley- we are very proud of you!!

  • Tri-County Christmas Card Contest...

  • Teacher of the Year...

    Mrs. Alane Humphries was voted as the Wells Elementary 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Humphries is our first grade lead teacher, as well as one of our Science Olympiad coaches.  WES is grateful for the hard work and dedication that Mrs. Humphries puts into being a great teacher and leader. Congratulations Mrs. Humphries!!


  • Kids Vote

         Students at Wells Elementary enjoyed participating in a Mock Election for the U.S. President on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. The gifted students in the school were in charge of running the election. They set up the computers, checked in the voters, and assisted each group. Each student was given the opportunity to cast a vote for the next President of the United States.


  • Veteran's Day
         WES had a special 2nd grade PTO performance to celebrate Veteran’s Day.  These students performed “I’m Proud to Be an American” and “You Raise Me Up” and along with sharing an acrostic poem about veterans.  These students did an amazing job honoring our military and helping us celebrate this special day. 
            On Friday, November 11 our school recognized Veteran’s Day by joining in the halls to singing and signing “I’m Proud to Be an American.”  A special thanks to Mrs. McElveen for teaching the students this special song and sign language during her Fine Arts class.

  • D.E.A.R. Visitors

        JCHS Football Players came to WES on Thursday, November 10 to read to our classes during our D.E.A.R. time.  Both the students and the players were excited to share this special time together.  The players spoke with the students about the importance of reading and how reading helps you be successful in life.  We had six Wells Alumni return to read.  This was a special treat for former teachers and well as the players. We are very grateful to Coach Rogers and Mrs. McCuen for arranging this special visit!!


  • Hour of Code...
    WES students will participate in " The Hour of Code"  during their computer lab exploratory Dec. 5-11.  

    “The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week[] and[] to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.”  To find out more information about coding, visit


  • Grandparents Breakfast...

    We want to thank all of our grandparents that came to eat breakfast with us.  We had 335 grandparents visit. 
    Our WizKids sure are loved!!

  • Yearbook Cover Designer...

    Rylie Faulk was voted our Yearbook Cover Designer for the 2016-2017 WES Yearbook.  Rylie is a 5th grader in Miss Hardwick’s class. 
    We are excited to have Rylie’s design on our yearbook!!

  • Title I Family Math Night...

    We had a fabulous time at our Title I Math and Movement Night.  We had approximately 375 WES students, family members, and staff members.  Math & Movement allows children to learn through movement and visually pleasing floor mats.  The depth of understanding children acquire in play-like activities serves as a base for later construction of more advanced concepts.  Thanks for coming and learning with us!!

  • Hats 4 Hope

    Each year WES students and faculty have the opportunity to support Jay's Hope a local foundation that supports children battling cancers and their families in our local community.  This year our school raised $454.  Thanks to our students and staff who participated in this special cause!
